As I reluctantly pressed play on "The Royal Wedding - The Official Album," I couldn't help but wonder if this was some sort of cruel joke. But as the first notes of "Here Comes the Bride" filled my earbuds, I realized that this was no laughing matter.
Featuring a star-studded line-up of various artists (no pun intended), including the Archbishop of Canterbury on lead vocals, this album is a mixed bag of musical moments that range from the sublime to the downright cringeworthy.
From the beautifully orchestrated rendition of "God Save the Queen" to the cringe-inducing cover of "Love Me Tender" by Prince Harry, this album has it all. And by "it all," I mean an eclectic mix of hymns, classical pieces, and pop songs that will have you scratching your head in confusion.
But despite its flaws, "The Royal Wedding - The Official Album" does have its moments of brilliance. The hauntingly beautiful rendition of "Ave Maria" by the London Philharmonic Choir is a standout track that showcases the album's potential for greatness.
