Our Take

Emigrate, the side project of Rammstein's guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe, has always been a curious beast. On their latest album, "The Persistence of Memory," the band continues to blend elements of industrial rock with catchy, anthemic hooks.

The album opens with the pulsating track "I'm Just This Guy," a perfect example of Emigrate's ability to create a unique sound that still feels familiar. Kruspe's guitar work is as sharp as ever, slicing through the mix with precision.

Tracks like "You Can't Give It To Me" and "Eat Your Heart Out" showcase the band's ability to write infectious choruses that will have you singing along in no time. However, the album does falter at times, with some songs feeling a bit repetitive or lacklustre.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Hide and Seek," a haunting ballad that showcases Kruspe's emotive vocals. The minimal instrumentation allows his voice to shine, making for a truly heartbreaking listen.

Overall, "The Persistence of Memory" is a solid effort from Emigrate, showcasing their penchant for blending aggression with melody. While it may not reinvent the wheel, fans of industrial rock will find plenty to enjoy here. So grab a beer, crank up the volume, and enjoy the ride.
