          Our Take
Ah, the self-titled debut album from Mound Builders, a band that is no stranger to the underground music scene. This Hoosier outfit brings some serious riffage, pounding drums, and guttural vocals to the table, creating a sound that's as heavy as a sack of bricks.
From the moment the opening track kicks in, you can tell these guys mean business. "Crushing Bones" sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its relentless onslaught of sludgy goodness. The guitars are downright filthy, the bass is thunderous, and the drums are as tight as a duck's arse.
The standout track for me has to be "Colossus," a colossal slab of metal that will pummel you into submission. The band's influences are clear, with nods to the likes of Mastodon, High on Fire, and Black Sabbath, but Mound Builders manage to put their own unique spin on things.
There are moments of pure sonic carnage on this album, with tracks like "Doomsday" and "Bloodsucker" threatening to take your head off. But there are also moments of beauty, such as the haunting acoustic interlude "Echoes of the Earth," which adds a nice bit of contrast to the heaviness.
Overall, Mound Builders have delivered a solid debut that will leave you with a sore neck from all the headbanging. If you're a fan of sludge, doom, or just good old-fashioned heavy metal, this album is definitely worth checking out.

About the artist
The Mound Builders
MOUND BUILDERS are the kind of band that hits you like a ton of bricks, but in the best possible way. Hailing from the Midwest, this powerhouse quartet has been honing their unique blend of sludge metal and punk rock for over a decade now, earning a reputation as one of the most exciting underground acts on the scene. With a sound that's as heavy as a sack of bricks and as catchy as a pop song, MOUND BUILDERS have perfected the art of balancing aggression and melody. The band's thunderous riffs and bone-shaking rhythms are complemented by frontman Jake Smith's snarling vocals, which pack a punch like a brick through a window. But don't let their intense sound fool you - MOUND BUILDERS are a bunch of lovable goofballs offstage. Whether they're cracking jokes in interviews or pulling pranks on tour, these guys know how to have a good time. And their infectious energy is on full display in their live shows, where they bring the roof down with their explosive performances. So if you're looking for a band that's as heavy as a brick wall but as fun as a party balloon, look no further than MOUND BUILDERS. These guys are the real deal, and they're ready to knock your socks off with their raw, unfiltered rock'n'roll. Just make sure to hold on tight - because when MOUND BUILDERS hit the stage, things tend to get a little bit wild.
