Our Take

The Last Command by WASP is like stumbling upon a vintage leather jacket with patches from every metal band you never knew you needed in your life. This album is a sonic time capsule, transporting you back to the days of big hair, tight leather pants, and enough hairspray to rival the ozone layer.

From the opening track "Wild Child," you're hit with a wall of guitar riffs that scream '80s excess. Blackie Lawless' vocals are gravelly and raw, like he's been partying hard in the Sunset Strip all night and has the stories to prove it. The lyrics are a cocktail of rebellion, lust, and teenage angst, delivered with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.

Tracks like "Blind in Texas" and "Fistful of Diamonds" are anthems for the misfits and outcasts, the perfect soundtrack for flipping off authority and raising hell. The guitar solos are shredding, the drums are pounding, and you can practically smell the sweat and testosterone emanating from your speakers.

But beneath the leather and distortion, there's a surprising amount of melody and emotion. Ballads like "Cries in the Night" and "The Last Command" showcase a vulnerable side to WASP, balancing out the aggression and adding depth to the album.

In conclusion, The Last Command is a wild, raucous ride through the neon-soaked streets of '80s metal. It's loud, it's brash, and it's a hell of a good time. So grab your air guitar, crank up the volume, and let WASP take you on a headbanging journey you won't soon forget.

About the artist

W.A.S.P.

WASP: The Pioneering Purveyor of Glam Metal Extravagance When it comes to 80s rock extravagance, WASP (short for We Are Sexual Perverts, or maybe not?) takes the cake. Fronted by the enigmatic Blackie Lawless, this band has been serving up a heady mix of leather, spandex, and over-the-top theatrics since 1982. Known for their raucous live shows and shock-rock antics, WASP has never been one to shy away from controversy. Their debut album, self-titled "WASP", caused quite the stir with its provocative cover art and lyrics that pushed the boundaries of decency. But behind all the leather-clad bravado, there lies a band with serious musical chops. With Lawless' gritty vocals and Randy Piper's blistering guitar riffs, WASP carved out their own niche in the glam metal scene. Their sophomore effort, "The Last Command", showcased a more polished sound while still retaining that gritty edge that fans had come to love. Hits like "Wild Child" and "Blind in Texas" solidified WASP's status as one of the leading bands in the glam metal genre. Despite numerous lineup changes and controversies over the years, WASP has continued to soldier on, releasing a steady stream of albums that have garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success. Whether you love them or hate them, there's no denying the impact that WASP has had on the world of rock music. So crank up the volume, throw on some spandex, and get ready to be blown away by the one and only WASP.
