Jasper Staps, Rembrandt Frerichs, Mattheus Nicolaiewsky, and Mitchell Damen – a quartet of names that sound more like a law firm than a jazz band. But don't let that fool you, because their latest album, "The First At Last", is anything but boring.
From the first note, it's clear that these four musicians are in perfect harmony. Staps' saxophone wails, Frerichs' piano tinkles, Nicolaiewsky's bass grooves, and Damen's drums drive the rhythm forward. Together, they create a sound that is at once complex and accessible, modern and timeless.
