Our Take

Once in a blue moon, an album comes along that shakes the very foundation of the music industry. ONE MACHINE's latest release, "The Distortion Of Lies", is not that album.

From start to finish, this record is a whirlwind of mediocre riffs, forgettable lyrics, and generic production. It's like someone took all the most average elements of metal music and mashed them together into one uninspired mess.

Vocalist Chris Hawkins sounds like he's desperately trying to channel his inner metal god, but instead comes across as a poor man's Corey Taylor. The guitar work is competent, but lacks any real innovation or creativity. And don't even get me started on the drumming - it's so pedestrian, I fell asleep halfway through the album.

The overall sound of "The Distortion Of Lies" can best be described as background music for a particularly nondescript car commercial. It's the kind of album that you listen to once, then promptly forget about as soon as the next big thing comes along.

In conclusion, ONE MACHINE's latest effort is about as exciting as watching paint dry. If you're looking for something to really get your blood pumping, look elsewhere. This album is best left gathering dust in the bargain bin.
