About the artist

Neil Sedaka

Neil Sedaka may not be the hippest name on the block, but his classic tunes have certainly stood the test of time. With over 60 years in the industry, Sedaka has proven himself to be a master of pop craftsmanship, writing hits that continue to be loved by audiences old and new. Born in Brooklyn in 1939, Sedaka started his music career at a young age, studying classical piano at the Juilliard School. While his early influences may have been Mozart and Chopin, it wasn't long before Sedaka's love for popular music led him down a different path. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Sedaka rose to fame as a singer-songwriter, churning out catchy hits like "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" and "Calendar Girl." His distinctive voice and catchy melodies quickly earned him a loyal fanbase and a string of chart-topping singles. Despite facing some ups and downs in his career, including a lull in the 1970s, Sedaka has always managed to bounce back with his infectious tunes and undeniable charm. His music has been covered by artists as diverse as The Carpenters, Elton John, and Sheryl Crow, proving that his songs truly have universal appeal. So, while Neil Sedaka may not be the most avant-garde artist out there, there's no denying his knack for writing timeless pop gems that have become ingrained in the musical fabric of our society. And hey, who doesn't love a good old-fashioned sing-along to a Neil Sedaka tune?
