Our Take

Jeff Healey's "The Best of the Stony Plain Years" showcases the blind blues-rock maestro at the peak of his powers. Known for his unique guitar technique and soulful vocals, Healey effortlessly blends rock, blues, and jazz influences to create a sound that is truly his own.

The album kicks off with the foot-stomping "I Think I Love You Too Much," a track that perfectly sets the tone for what's to come. Healey's guitar work is nothing short of genius, with his signature slide guitar and lightning-fast solos taking center stage throughout the record.

Songs like "Blue Jean Blues" and "Yer Blues" showcase Healey's versatility as a musician, effortlessly switching between classic blues riffs and hard-hitting rock anthems. The raw emotion in his voice is undeniable, drawing listeners in and keeping them hooked from start to finish.

Standout tracks like "Confidence Man" and "The Weight" highlight Healey's ability to tell a story through his music, with each note hitting you right in the feels. It's no wonder he was able to captivate audiences around the world with his electrifying live performances.

Overall, "The Best of the Stony Plain Years" is a must-listen for any fan of blues, rock, or just good music in general. Jeff Healey may no longer be with us, but his music lives on, and this album is a shining example of his immense talent and enduring legacy.

About the artist

Jeff Healey

The late, great JEFF HEALEY was more than just a musician - he was a force of nature. Born blind due to a rare form of eye cancer, Healey defied the odds and became one of the most unique and talented musicians of his generation. His distinctive style of playing the guitar flat on his lap, combined with his soulful vocals, made him a true icon in the world of blues and rock. Healey burst onto the scene in the late 1980s with his band The Jeff Healey Band, scoring big with hits like "Angel Eyes" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". But it wasn't just his chart-topping success that set Healey apart - it was his infectious energy and unmistakable stage presence that truly captivated audiences around the world. A true master of his craft, Healey was known for his virtuosic guitar playing and his ability to effortlessly blend blues, rock, and jazz influences into a sound that was uniquely his own. His performances were nothing short of electrifying, with every note he played dripping with emotion and raw talent. Despite facing numerous challenges throughout his career, including losing his sight at a young age and battling cancer later in life, Healey never let anything hold him back. He continued to make music until his untimely death in 2008, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire musicians and fans alike to this day. So, if you're in the mood for some blistering guitar solos, soulful vocals, and a whole lot of heart, look no further than the one and only Jeff Healey. He may have left us too soon, but his music will forever live on as a testament to his unparalleled talent and unwavering spirit.
