John Lee Hooker’s “The Best Of Friends” is a delightful romp through the blues legend’s collaborations with some of the biggest names in music. From Van Morrison to Eric Clapton, this album is a who’s who of musical talent.
The album kicks off with the infectious groove of “I’m in the Mood” featuring Bonnie Raitt, setting the tone for the rest of the tracks. Hooker’s gravelly voice perfectly complements each of his duet partners, creating a unique and soulful sound that is a joy to listen to.
Standout tracks include “Serves Me Right to Suffer” with Carlos Santana, where Hooker’s signature guitar playing intertwines beautifully with Santana’s iconic sound, and “Boogie Chillen’” with Eric Clapton, which is a masterclass in blues guitar.
