Our Take

Tom Morello, the guitar wizard behind Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave, has taken a dive into the realm of electronic music with his latest album, The Atlas Underground Flood. This limited edition sky blue grape vinyl is a colourful addition to any collection, but does the music live up to the hype?

From the moment the needle hits the record, listeners are transported into a world of pulsating beats and soaring guitar riffs. Morello's signature shredding is on full display, blending seamlessly with the electronic textures and samples. Tracks like "We Don't Need You" and "Radium Girls" showcase his ability to fuse genres and create something truly unique.

The guest appearances on this album are another highlight, with artists like Phantogram, Marcus Mumford, and Papa Roach adding their own elements to each track. The result is a melting pot of sound that keeps listeners on their toes and eager for more.

While some may argue that Morello's departure from his rock roots is a risky move, it's clear that he's not afraid to take chances and experiment with his sound. The Atlas Underground Flood is a bold statement from an artist who continues to push boundaries and challenge expectations.

Overall, this album is a must-listen for fans of electronic music, rock, or just good music in general. Don't sleep on Tom Morello's latest offering - it's a flood of creativity that shows no signs of stopping.

About the artist

Tom Morello

Tom Morello – the formidable guitarist known for his shredding skills, political activism, and signature bucket hat – is a true rock icon. With a career spanning over three decades, Morello has established himself as not only a virtuoso musician but also a vocal advocate for social justice. Born in Harlem, New York, Morello first gained fame as the guitarist for the influential band Rage Against the Machine in the early 1990s. His unconventional playing style, which incorporates elements of metal, funk, and even hip-hop, helped redefine the sound of rock music and inspired a generation of guitarists. After Rage Against the Machine disbanded in 2000, Morello went on to form the supergroup Audioslave with former members of Soundgarden. The band's self-titled debut album was a commercial success, with hits like "Cochise" and "Like a Stone" showcasing Morello's versatility as a musician. In addition to his work with various bands, Morello has also released several solo albums under the moniker The Nightwatchman, featuring politically-charged folk songs that reflect his commitment to social causes. But perhaps Morello's most impressive feat is his collaboration with Bruce Springsteen in the supergroup Prophets of Rage. The band, which also includes members of Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, combines the fiery energy of Rage Against the Machine with the timeless appeal of Springsteen's classic rock sound. With his distinctive sound, political fervour, and undeniable talent, Tom Morello continues to cement his legacy as one of the most influential figures in rock music today. So grab your bucket hat, turn up the volume, and prepare to be blown away by the one and only Tom Morello.
