Our Take

AUTOGRAPH The Anthology is a time capsule of 80s glam metal at its most excessive. While some may dismiss Autograph as just another hair band, this compilation proves that they had more to offer than just their gravity-defying hairdos.

From the fist-pumping anthem "Turn Up the Radio" to the sleazy yet infectious "Blondes in Black Cars," Autograph's debut album is a rollercoaster ride of big riffs and even bigger personalities. Lead vocalist Steve Plunkett's gravelly voice may not have the range of a Rob Halford, but it sure packs a punch.

The Anthology also includes some lesser-known tracks that are hidden gems waiting to be discovered. "Dance all Night" is a guilty pleasure that will have you tapping your foot and air-guitaring along in no time. And "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Isn't Me" is a tongue-in-cheek ode to love triangles that showcases the band's playful side.

While Autograph may not have reached the same level of superstardom as some of their peers, this anthology shows that they deserve a spot in the pantheon of 80s rock legends.
