Our Take
Forteresse's latest album, "Thèmes Pour La Rébellion," is a sonic assault on the senses that will have you waving your metal flag high. The Quebec-based black metal band have crafted a relentless barrage of riffs and blast beats that hit like a sledgehammer to the chest. From the opening track, "Le Sang des Héros," to the closing epic, "Les Griffes de l'Espoir," Forteresse take you on a journey through the icy forests of their homeland, with lyrics sung entirely in French. It's like being transported to a medieval battlefield, where warriors clash in a symphony of steel and blood. The production on this album is top-notch, with each instrument cutting through the mix like a battle axe. The guitar work is intricate and melodic, while the drumming is ferocious and relentless. Vocalist Athros delivers his lyrics with a raw, guttural intensity that will send shivers down your spine. Standout tracks include the epic "Là où Nous Allons," with its soaring melodies and crushing riffs, and the atmospheric "Dans la Lumière et la Vérité," which builds to a triumphant crescendo.
