Our Take

Yee-haw! Saddle up, cowboys and cowgirls, because we're taking a trip back to the Wild West with Foy Willing and The Riders of the Purple Sage's latest release, "Texas Blues - The Classic Years 1944-50". This album is more countrified than a rodeo full of tumbleweeds!

From the twang of the guitars to the howl of the harmonicas, every track on this album is packed with old-school Texas grit and charm. Foy Willing's vocals transport you straight to a dusty saloon, where the whiskey flows as freely as the music.

The Riders of the Purple Sage truly live up to their name, creating a sound that's as vast and vibrant as the Texas landscape. Whether they're belting out a rowdy hoedown or crooning a heart-wrenching ballad, this band knows how to stir the soul.

While some may see traditional country music as a relic of the past, Foy Willing and The Riders of the Purple Sage prove that this genre is alive and kicking. So grab your spurs and saddle up, because "Texas Blues - The Classic Years 1944-50" is a rootin' tootin' good time from start to finish. Giddy up, y'all!

About the artist

Foy Willing and The Riders of The Purple Sage

Foy Willing and the Riders of the Purple Sage were a trailblazing country music act in the 1940s and 1950s, paving the way for the modern cowboys of today. Led by the charismatic Foy Willing, known for his smooth vocals and guitar skills, the group combined traditional country sounds with elements of Western swing and cowboy ballads. Their music was the perfect soundtrack for a Sunday afternoon on the ranch or a Saturday night hoedown, with twangy guitars and tight harmonies that would make even the most hardened city slicker want to grab a partner and hit the dance floor. But what really set the Riders of the Purple Sage apart was their unique stage presence and style. Dressed in matching Western outfits, complete with cowboy hats and boots, they looked like they had stepped straight out of a John Wayne movie - and their performances were just as entertaining. With infectious energy and a sense of fun, Foy Willing and the Riders of the Purple Sage were a breath of fresh air in the world of country music. Sadly, they may not be as well-known as some of their contemporaries, but their influence can still be heard in the music of artists today. So next time you're in the mood for some good old-fashioned Western swing, saddle up and give Foy Willing and the Riders of the Purple Sage a listen. Yeehaw!
