Our Take

Tau Cross's self-titled album is a head-spinning journey through the realms of punk, metal, and everything in between. It's like taking a psychedelic trip through a post-apocalyptic wasteland while riding a unicorn made of lava - unexpected, exhilarating, and just a little bit dangerous.

The band's unique blend of thrashy guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and haunting vocals create a sound that is both fierce and intoxicating. It's music that will make you want to headbang until your neck aches, then collapse in a sweaty heap on the floor, only to do it all over again.

From the blistering opener "Lazarus", with its ferocious energy and primal intensity, to the hauntingly beautiful "Hangman's Hyll", Tau Cross takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and sonic textures. It's a wild ride that will leave you breathless and begging for more.

If you're a fan of bands like Amebix, Neurosis, or Killing Joke, then Tau Cross is definitely a must-listen. It's an album that defies genre boundaries and pushes the limits of what punk and metal can be. So grab your leather jacket, crank up the volume, and get ready to be blown away by Tau Cross. Trust us, you won't regret it.

About the artist

Tau Cross

Tau Cross is not your average metal band. Formed in 2013 by Amebix’s Rob "The Baron" Miller and Voivod’s Michel "Away" Langevin, this supergroup brings together a unique blend of crust punk and progressive metal that has captivated fans around the world. With Miller’s distinctive growls and poetic lyrics, Tau Cross explores themes of environmentalism, politics, and spirituality while delivering a sonic assault that is both aggressive and sophisticated. Langevin’s complex drum patterns and atmospheric soundscapes provide the perfect backdrop for Miller’s intense vocals, creating a sound that is both melodic and menacing. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2015, received critical acclaim for its raw energy and intelligent songwriting. Tracks like "Fire in the Sky" and "We Control the Fear" showcase Tau Cross’s ability to seamlessly blend crushing riffs with thought-provoking lyrics. Despite their impressive pedigree, Tau Cross is not content to rest on their laurels. Their 2017 album, "Pillar of Fire," saw the band pushing boundaries even further, experimenting with new sounds and incorporating elements of post-punk and gothic rock. Tau Cross is a band that defies easy categorization. Their music is hard-hitting and intense, but also deeply thought-provoking and emotionally resonant. With their blend of old-school punk ethos and forward-thinking musical experimentation, Tau Cross is a band that is truly in a league of their own.
