Our Take
Once in a blue moon, an album comes along that leaves you questioning everything you thought you knew about music. Dogbreath's latest offering, "Taste It!", is one such album. From the moment you press play, you're transported to a world where the rules of conventional music are thrown out the window. The opening track, "Soggy Biscuit Blues", sets the tone for what's to come - a cacophony of erratic guitar riffs, frenetic drum beats, and vocals that sound like they're being sung through a megaphone underwater. It's jarring, it's confusing, but above all, it's utterly captivating. As the album progresses, you can't help but feel like you're being taken on a wild rollercoaster ride through the mind of a musical madman. Tracks like "Funky Fuzzy Fiasco" and "Groovy Gravy Train" are a mishmash of genres and influences, blending together in a way that should not work, but somehow does. By the time you reach the final track, "Crazy Cat Parade", you're left feeling exhilarated, exhausted, and slightly bewildered. "Taste It!" is not an easy listen, but for those willing to take the plunge, it's a musical experience like no other. Dogbreath may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those with an adventurous spirit and a love of the avant-garde, this album is a must-listen.
