Our Take
Our Take
Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser and his trio took the stage at Taktlos Zurich in 2017, and let me tell you, it was a night to remember. From the moment they kicked off the set, it was clear that these guys were not messing around.
Blaser's smooth trombone skills were on full display, weaving in and out of intricate melodies with precision and finesse. His bandmates, bassist Marc Ducret and drummer Peter Bruun, provided the perfect backdrop for Blaser's virtuosic playing, locking into tight grooves and effortlessly shifting dynamics.
The trio's setlist was a mix of originals and reimagined standards, each tune showcasing the group's impeccable musicianship and deep chemistry. Highlights included the hauntingly beautiful ballad "Reflections" and the high-energy romp "Funky Town".
But what really set this performance apart was the trio's infectious energy and sense of playfulness. Blaser and his bandmates clearly love what they do, and it's impossible not to get caught up in their joy and enthusiasm.
Overall, Samuel Blaser Trio's performance at Taktlos Zurich in 2017 was a masterclass in inventive, genre-defying jazz. If you have the chance to catch these guys live, don't miss it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
