Our Take

Sweet Liberties' self-titled debut album is a whimsical romp through a musical wonderland, filled with infectious melodies and toe-tapping beats that will have you dancing in your living room faster than you can say "tea and crumpets". This eclectic blend of folk, pop, and indie influences creates a sound that is uniquely British - think Mumford and Sons meets The Kooks with a dash of Monty Python for good measure.

From the opening track "London Calling" to the closing ballad "God Save the Queen", Sweet Liberties take listeners on a journey through the streets of London, exploring themes of love, loss, and the ever-present British obsession with the weather. Lead vocalist Lucy Davies' voice is a revelation, soaring effortlessly over the lush instrumentation provided by the rest of the band.

But what really sets Sweet Liberties apart from their contemporaries is their irreverent sense of humour. Tracks like "Fish and Chips Blues" and "The Great British Bake Off (feat. Mary Berry)" show that this band doesn't take themselves too seriously, and their infectious energy is impossible to resist.

So, put on your best Union Jack shirt, pour yourself a cuppa, and prepare to be charmed by Sweet Liberties. This is music that will make you proud to be British, even if you're not. So grab your umbrella, it's time to get swept away by the sweet sounds of Sweet Liberties. Cheers!
