Our Take
Our Take
Ah, Savatage - the original rock opera kings. Streets: A Rock Opera is a rollercoaster journey through the gritty streets of NYC, filled with drama, passion, and of course, killer riffs. This album is like a Broadway show on steroids, with bombastic orchestration, powerful vocals, and enough guitar solos to make your head spin.
From the haunting "Streets" to the epic "Jesus Saves," Savatage delivers a theatrical experience that is as over-the-top as it is thrilling. Every song feels like a mini-drama in itself, with twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat.
The band's musicianship is top-notch, with Jon Oliva's raw vocals leading the charge alongside blistering guitar work and symphonic flourishes that give the album an epic, larger-than-life feel. The production is slick and polished, adding to the grandeur of the overall sound.
While some may find the concept a bit cheesy, Streets: A Rock Opera is a wild ride that demands your attention from start to finish. It's a testament to Savatage's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of what rock music can be. So buckle up, dear reader, and prepare to be taken on a journey through the mean streets of NYC like never before.

About the artist
Savatage
Formed in Tarpon Springs, Florida in 1979, Savatage is a band that defies all traditional genre boundaries. With their unique blend of progressive metal, power metal, and even elements of classical music, Savatage has carved out a distinct niche in the music industry. Led by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, Savatage burst onto the scene in the 1980s with their debut album, "Sirens." Known for their technical proficiency and intricate song structures, the band quickly gained a dedicated fanbase around the world. Throughout their career, Savatage has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including "Gutter Ballet" and "Streets: A Rock Opera." Their ambitious concept albums and theatrical live performances have cemented their reputation as one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing bands in the metal scene. But it hasn't always been smooth sailing for Savatage. Tragedy struck in 1993 when Criss Oliva was killed in a car accident, leaving a void in the band that would never truly be filled. Despite this devastating loss, Savatage soldiered on, releasing several more albums and continuing to push the boundaries of their music. With their blend of shredding guitars, soaring vocals, and epic storytelling, Savatage is a band that refuses to be pigeonholed. Whether you're a die-hard metalhead or just someone looking for something a little bit different, Savatage has something for everyone. So crank up the volume, throw up the horns, and let Savatage take you on a wild and unpredictable musical journey.
