From the opening track, "The Upside Downbeat," I was immediately struck by the lack of originality and musicality present in this album. It felt like a sad attempt to cash in on the success of the hit TV show of the same name, but unfortunately fell flat on its face. Throughout the album, the band seems to rely heavily on gimmicky synth sounds and half-hearted attempts at catchy hooks. Tracks like "Demogorgon Dance Party" and "Eleven's Eggo Blues" feel forced and uninspired, leaving me cringing rather than grooving. Even the production on this album fails to impress, with muddy mixes and lacklustre mastering. It's as if the band thought that adding a few retro-inspired elements would automatically make their music cool and edgy, but it just comes off as lazy and unconvincing. In conclusion, "Stranger Things (You Suck)" is a forgettable, embarrassing attempt at creating something unique and exciting. I give this album a generous 3 out of 10, mostly for effort. But hey, at least they tried...right?
