Born in Germany in 1929, Rolf Kuhn is a jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer who has been a pioneering force in the European jazz scene for over seven decades. With a career that has seen him play alongside legends such as Benny Goodman and Ornette Coleman, Kuhn has never been one to play it safe. His music effortlessly blends traditional jazz elements with avant-garde experimentation, resulting in a sound that is uniquely his own. Kuhn's discography is nothing short of prolific, with over 30 albums to his name. From his early days as a member of the Frankfurt All Stars to his groundbreaking collaborations with the likes of John Coltrane and Don Cherry, Kuhn's musical journey has been nothing short of remarkable. From complex time signatures to intricate melodies, Kuhn's music is a masterclass in virtuosity. His live performances are a sight to behold, with Kuhn's energetic stage presence drawing audiences in from the first note.
