Our Take
Ah, the Pili Coit & Yowie Split (Deluxe Edition), what can we say about this delightful cacophony of sound? Well, for starters, it's like sticking your head inside a washing machine and hitting the spin cycle. The first track, "Marmite Meltdown," is a rollercoaster of dissonant guitars, off-kilter drumming, and what can only be described as a squirrel on helium doing backing vocals. It's chaotic, it's unpredictable, and it's absolutely brilliant. Moving on to "Funky Monkey Mosh Pit," things take a turn for the surreal. The band seems to have embraced their inner primates, with nonsensical lyrics about banana peels and swinging from the rafters. It's like a fever dream set to music, and we can't get enough. But the real standout on this album has to be the epic closer, "Space Cadet Serenade." Clocking in at a whopping 15 minutes, this track is a journey through outer space, with laser synths, ethereal vocals, and enough reverb to make Brian Eno blush.
