Our Take
Ministry's latest offering, Sphinctour, is a rollercoaster ride through the industrial metal landscape, complete with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from these veterans of the scene. Kicking off with the explosive opener "Psalm 69," the album doesn't let up for a second, delivering hard-hitting riffs, ear-piercing screams, and enough energy to power a small city. Tracks like "Jesus Built My Hotrod" and "Just One Fix" showcase the band's signature blend of aggression and groove, with Al Jourgensen's gravelly vocals cutting through the sonic onslaught like a chainsaw through butter. The production is top-notch, with every instrument and element perfectly balanced to create a wall of sound that hits you like a sledgehammer to the chest. But it's not all doom and gloom on Sphinctour. Ministry inject some humour into the mix with tracks like "N.W.O" and "Just Like You," showing that they don't take themselves too seriously despite their reputation as one of the pioneers of the industrial metal genre. Overall, Sphinctour is a wild, raucous ride that will leave you breathless and begging for more. Ministry may be getting on in years, but they certainly haven't lost any of their edge.
