Our Take
Every once in a while, an album comes along that embodies the essence of a genre, a moment in time, a feeling that transcends mere words. "ULTIMATE SONGS FROM MUSIC" is not that album. In fact, it's about as ultimate as a soggy chip in the bottom of a takeaway bag. Featuring a mishmash of tracks from various artists, this compilation promises to deliver the very best of music. But instead, it serves up a lukewarm stew of mediocrity, with each track more forgettable than the last. From the forgettable pop ballads to the uninspired dance anthems, "ULTIMATE SONGS FROM MUSIC" is a masterclass in missed opportunities. It's as if the producers asked for the best songs from each artist and received their B-sides instead. There are a few bright spots, of course. The track from that one band you vaguely remember from the '90s is kind of catchy, and the remix of that song you never really liked to begin with is slightly less unbearable. But overall, this album is about as exciting as a rainy day in Bognor Regis. So if you're looking for the ultimate music experience, look elsewhere. "ULTIMATE SONGS FROM MUSIC" is about as ultimate as a soggy chip in the bottom of a takeaway bag. And that's not saying much.
