Album Review: CANNONBALL ADDERLEY - Somethin Else (Yellow Vinyl)

If there was ever an album that made you want to shimmy, twist, and shout all at the same time, it's Cannonball Adderley's "Somethin Else" on this striking yellow vinyl. This reissue of the jazz classic brings a fresh burst of color to your record collection, as well as a vibrant infusion of energy to your ears.

From the moment the needle hits the groove, you're transported to a smoky jazz club where Adderley's saxophone wails and whispers sweet nothings in your ear. The legendary artist is joined by a star-studded lineup, including Miles Davis, Hank Jones, Sam Jones, and Art Blakey, who all add their own unique flair to the mix.

Each track on this album is like a mini jazz odyssey, taking you on a journey through a myriad of emotions and moods. From the cool, laid-back vibes of "Autumn Leaves" to the fiery, frenetic pace of "One for Daddy-O," Adderley and his band keep you on your toes, never knowing what twist or turn they'll take next.

Whether you're a die-hard jazz aficionado or just dipping your toes into the genre, "Somethin Else" is an album that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. About the artist

Cannonball Adderley

CANNONBALL ADDERLEY Blowout saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, born Julian Edwin Adderley, was a force to be reckoned with in the world of jazz. Hailing from Tampa, Florida, this larger-than-life musician made waves in the 1950s and 60s with his distinctive blend of bebop, hard bop, and soulful jazz. Known for his raucous playing style and infectious personality, Cannonball Adderley was a true showman on stage. With his soulful tone and unmatched improvisational skills, he could make his saxophone sing like no other. It's no wonder he was dubbed "Cannonball" - this guy's playing was explosive! Adderley had a knack for surrounding himself with top-notch musicians, forming the iconic Cannonball Adderley Quintet in the late 1950s. With classic albums like "Somethin' Else" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! Live at 'The Club'", Adderley and his crew solidified their place in jazz history. In addition to his formidable skills as a saxophonist, Cannonball Adderley was also a talented composer and arranger. His compositions, such as "Work Song" and "Jive Samba", have become jazz standards that are still played by musicians today. Sadly, Cannonball Adderley's life was cut short in 1975, but his musical legacy lives on. His influence can be heard in the playing of countless jazz musicians, and his records continue to be cherished by fans old and new. Cannonball Adderley may be gone, but his music will forever be a blast!
