Our Take
Sleep’s Holy Mountain is a blissful journey through the mystical realms of stoner rock, filled with heavy riffs and captivating melodies that will transport you to another dimension (or at least to your local smoke-filled basement). The album kicks off with the hypnotic track “Dragonaut”, which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its slow, sludgy groove and ethereal vocals. From there, Sleep takes you on a rollercoaster ride of fuzzed-out guitars, pounding drums, and mind-bending lyrics that will have you questioning the very fabric of reality itself. One of the standout tracks on the album is “Holy Mountain”, a sprawling epic that builds to a thunderous climax, complete with chanted vocals and swirling guitar solos that will make you feel like you’re floating in space. Throughout the album, Sleep expertly balances moments of crushing heaviness with moments of transcendent beauty, creating a sound that is truly unique and utterly captivating.
