Our Take

In a world inundated with manufactured pop stars and soulless music, ACE OF CUPS burst onto the scene with their debut album "Sing Your Dreams" like a breath of fresh air. This all-female band defies expectations and delivers a unique blend of psychedelic rock, folk, and blues that is sure to leave you mesmerised.

From the moment you hit play, you are transported to a world where the melodies are infectious, the harmonies are angelic, and the lyrics are thought-provoking. Tracks like "Feel Good" and "Stones" showcase the band's versatility and knack for crafting catchy tunes that will be stuck in your head for days.

Lead vocalist Denise Kaufman's haunting vocals soar over the intricate instrumentation, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. The band's chemistry is palpable, with each member shining in their own right while also coming together to create something truly magical.

"Sing Your Dreams" is an album that demands to be listened to from start to finish, with each track seamlessly flowing into the next. Whether you're a seasoned music aficionado or just looking for something new to brighten your day, ACE OF CUPS has something for everyone on this stellar debut.

In a world where authenticity is often hard to come by, ACE OF CUPS is a shining beacon of hope. So do yourself a favour and give "Sing Your Dreams" a spin - your ears will thank you.

About the artist

Ace of Cups

Ace of Cups are the OG girl group that never got their due. Formed in the Summer of Love in 1967, these four ladies were at the forefront of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead. Despite being managed by the legendary Bill Graham, they never quite hit the big time, but their influence on the music industry is undeniable. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2018, is a time capsule of their 60s sound, reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin. With swirling guitars, badass harmonies, and lyrics that tackle social issues head-on, it's a shame these girls didn't get their moment in the spotlight sooner. Lead vocalist Denise Kaufman's soulful voice is a force to be reckoned with, while Mary Gannon's bass lines provide a solid backbone for the band's groovy sound. Mary Ellen Simpson's guitar riffs are pure psychedelic magic, and drummer Diane Vitalich's impeccable timing keeps the band in perfect rhythm. Despite their long hiatus from the music scene, the Ace of Cups have returned with a vengeance, proving that age is just a number. Their live shows are a sight to behold, with the ladies still rocking out like it's 1969. With a new generation of fans discovering their music, it's safe to say that the Ace of Cups are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Long live the Queens of Psychedelia!
