Our Take
Prepare to have your ears tickled and your funny bone jangled with Slothrust's latest offering, "Show Me How You Want It to Be." This trio from Boston has whipped up a delectable concoction of grunge, punk, and indie rock that is sure to get you grooving and giggling in equal measure. From the opening track, "Double Down," Slothrust showcases their signature blend of infectious melodies and razor-sharp wit. Lead singer Leah Wellbaum's vocals are a force to be reckoned with, effortlessly gliding between haunting whispers and fierce howls. The band's tight-knit chemistry is on full display, with Will Gorin's thunderous drums and Kyle Bann's swirling bass lines adding an extra layer of oomph to each track. Highlights include the irresistibly catchy "Horseshoe Crab" and the cheeky "Peach," which sees Wellbaum exploring themes of desire and identity with a playful twist. The band's cover of "Sex And Candy" is a real treat, putting a fresh spin on the classic Marcy Playground hit.
