Our Take
Our Take
The A-BONES are like that eccentric uncle you only see at family gatherings every few years. You know, the one who always shows up wearing a Hawaiian shirt and carrying a ukulele. Their latest album, "Shallow Grave," is a wild journey through the world of rock 'n' roll, with the band's signature blend of surf, garage, and punk influences.
From the opening track, "Digging My Own Grave," it's clear that the A-BONES are not here to play it safe. The gritty guitars and pounding drums set the tone for an album that is equal parts chaos and charm. Frontman Billy Miller's raspy vocals bring a sense of urgency to each track, while the band's tight musicianship keeps things from spiraling out of control.
The A-BONES may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're looking for a band that isn't afraid to take risks and push boundaries, then "Shallow Grave" is definitely worth a listen. Tracks like "Six Little Love Letters" and "Mister Kool" showcase the band's knack for infectious hooks and catchy melodies, while "Devil Dance" and "Weep You Savages" bring a darker, more introspective side to the album.
Overall, "Shallow Grave" is a rollicking ride through the wild and weird world of the A-BONES. It's not always pretty, but it's definitely a lot of fun. So grab your Hawaiian shirt and your ukulele, and dive into this album with an open mind and a sense of adventure. You won't be disappointed.

About the artist
The A-Bones
The A-BONES are a New York-based garage rock band that have been shaking up the music scene since the late 1980s. With a sound that can only be described as a wild blend of rockabilly, surf rock, and punk, the A-BONES have carved out a niche for themselves as one of the most exciting and unpredictable bands in the underground music scene. Formed by vocalist Billy Miller and drummer Miriam Linna, the A-BONES burst onto the scene with their debut album, "Teenage Rock and Roll Machine," in 1985. Since then, the band has released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including "The Life of Riley" and "Ears Wide Shut," earning them a devoted fan base and a reputation as one of the best live acts around. What sets the A-BONES apart from other bands in their genre is their infectious energy and irreverent sense of humour. Whether they're covering obscure rockabilly classics or belting out their own original tunes, the A-BONES never fail to entertain and surprise their audiences. But don't let their fun-loving attitude fool you - the A-BONES are serious musicians with serious chops. With a lineup that includes guitarists Bruce Bennett and Ira Kaplan, as well as bassist Marcus "The Carcus" Nataro, the A-BONES are a powerhouse of talent and creativity. Whether you're a die-hard fan of garage rock or just looking for a good time, the A-BONES are a band that should not be missed. So grab your dancing shoes and get ready to rock out with one of the most thrilling bands in the business.
