Our Take
If you haven't heard of Black Lips, you must have been living under a rock - or maybe just in quarantine. These Atlanta garage rockers have been making noise since the early 2000s, and their latest album, "Season of the Peach," is another wild ride through their distinctive blend of lo-fi, punk-infused rock 'n' roll. From the opening track "Peach Szn (Intro)," it's clear that Black Lips are not here to play it safe. The distorted guitars, snarling vocals, and pounding drums create a wall of sound that hits you like a ton of bricks. It's rough around the edges, but that's all part of the charm. Tracks like "Juicy Juicy Juice" and "Fuzzy Fruits" showcase the band's knack for catchy hooks and infectious melodies, while songs like "Peach Pit Blues" and "Sticky Situation" delve into darker territory, with lyrics that touch on heartbreak and existential dread.
