Ah, Schikaneder. The man, the myth, the... well, let's just say his story isn't your typical fairy tale. But this musical adaptation of his life is certainly a wild ride from start to finish. VARIOUS ARTISTS have brought the eccentricities of this 18th-century Austrian impresario to life in a way that only they could. The O.C.R. (that's Original Cast Recording for you non-theatre buffs) is a vibrant, eclectic mix of genres, ranging from classical opera to funky electronic beats. It's like Mozart meets Daft Punk in a surreal musical fever dream. The standout tracks on this album are truly a treat for the ears. "Magic Flute Boogie" is a high-energy, toe-tapping number that will have you dancing in your seat. "Papageno's Blues" is a soulful ballad that tugs at the heartstrings and showcases the vocal talent of the cast. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows in Schikaneder's world.
