Our Take
Our Take
Eddy Current Suppression Ring's latest offering, "Rush To Relax," is a delightful cacophony of chaotic energy and infectious melodies that will have you dancing like a loon in no time. With their trademark blend of garage rock, post-punk, and lo-fi charm, the Australian band manages to hit all the right notes while still sounding refreshingly raw and unpolished.
From the opening track, "Anxiety," to the closing notes of "Walked and Seen," the album is a rollercoaster ride of frenetic guitars, pounding drums, and the distinctive vocals of frontman Brendan Suppression. The band's DIY ethos shines through in every note, as they eschew slick production in favor of a looser, more spontaneous sound that feels like a breath of fresh air in an age of overproduced pop.
Standout tracks include the infectious "Demon's Demands," with its irresistible hook and driving rhythm, and the raucous "Second Guessing," which showcases the band's knack for crafting catchy, anthemic tunes. But it's not all about the energy and attitude – tracks like "Memory Lane" and "It's All Square" reveal a more introspective side to the band, adding depth and complexity to their sound.
In short, "Rush To Relax" is a masterclass in lo-fi rock'n'roll that will leave you wanting more. Eddy Current Suppression Ring may have taken their time to release this album, but it was well worth the wait. Five stars.
