Our Take
Our Take
As I popped the latest offering from the iconic band The Pretenders into my CD player (yes, I still use a CD player, don't judge), I couldn't help but feel a tingle of excitement. After all, Chrissie Hynde and co. have been making our hearts skip a beat since the 80s.
"Relentless" kicks off with a bang, with the opening track "Alone" showcasing Hynde's signature vocals and killer guitar riffs that could make even the most stoic of listeners break into a spontaneous air guitar solo. The energy is infectious, the hooks are irresistible, and before you know it, you're fully immersed in the world of The Pretenders.
Tracks like "The Buzz" and "Light Up the World" showcase a more introspective side of the band, with Hynde's lyrics delving into themes of love, loss, and resilience. But don't be fooled, this album is anything but a downer. The infectious melodies and upbeat tempo will have you bopping along in no time.
Overall, "Relentless" is a testament to The Pretenders' enduring talent and staying power. Hynde's vocals still pack a punch, the band's musicianship is as tight as ever, and the production is top-notch. So if you're a fan of good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll with a modern twist, do yourself a favour and give this album a spin. You won't regret it.
