Our Take
Ron Gallo has returned with his latest offering, "Really Nice Guys," and boy, is it a wild ride from start to finish. The album sees Gallo taking on the persona of a self-deprecating rockstar who longs for validation and recognition - a stark departure from his usual self-assured persona. From the opening track, "Really Nice Guys (Theme Song)," it's clear that Gallo is not taking himself too seriously on this record. The lyrics are tongue-in-cheek and the music is a chaotic mix of garage rock and punk, with plenty of quirky surprises thrown in. Tracks like "Party Tumor" and "Pull Quote" showcase Gallo's knack for writing catchy hooks and his irreverent sense of humour. The latter is a scathing commentary on the music industry, with Gallo poking fun at the idea of being reduced to a "pull quote" for a music journalist.
