Our Take
Our Take
GEEZER BUTLER's Plastic Planet is a bizarre and delightful journey into the mind of the legendary Black Sabbath bassist. From the moment you press play, you are transported to a world where heavy riffs and wailing vocals reign supreme.
The album kicks off with the slamming track "Catatonic Eclipse", which sets the tone for what's to come. Butler's signature bass lines are front and centre, providing a solid backbone for the rest of the band to riff and solo over. The production is gritty, adding to the overall heavy feel of the record.
Standout tracks include "Drive Boy Shooting", with its catchy chorus and driving rhythm, and "Giving Up the Ghost", a haunting ballad that showcases Butler's lyrical prowess. The album culminates in the epic "Don't You Know", a nearly 10-minute opus that features some of the most intricate and powerful playing on the record.
Overall, Plastic Planet is a solid effort from Butler and his bandmates. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it is a fun and energetic listen that will please fans of heavy metal and classic rock alike. So grab your air guitar, crank up the volume, and let Plastic Planet take you on a wild ride through the mind of one of rock's true legends.

About the artist
Geezer Butler
Geezer Butler is not just a founding member of the legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath--he's also the guy responsible for penning some of the band's most iconic songs. With his thunderous bass lines and dark, brooding lyrics, Geezer helped define the sound of heavy metal as we know it. Born in Birmingham, England, Geezer (yes, that's his real name) got his start in music by playing in local blues bands before teaming up with Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, and Bill Ward to form Black Sabbath in 1968. As the band's primary lyricist, Geezer's dark and introspective words added depth and complexity to the group's bone-crushing riffs and thunderous drums. But Geezer's talents aren't limited to just his songwriting skills--his bass playing is unparalleled in the world of heavy metal. With his thunderous, earth-shaking bass lines, Geezer's playing adds a sense of weight and power to Black Sabbath's music that few other bassists can match. Despite Black Sabbath's iconic status in the annals of heavy metal, Geezer has also found success outside of the band, releasing solo albums and collaborating with other musicians. His influence on the genre is undeniable, and his legacy as one of the greats of heavy metal is secure. Whether he's laying down bone-crushing bass lines with Black Sabbath or exploring new musical territory on his own, Geezer Butler continues to push the boundaries of heavy metal music, inspiring generations of musicians and fans along the way. Long live the Geezer!
