Our Take

There's something gloriously unrefined about PLAINRIDE's self-titled album that immediately grabs your attention. The German band serves up a delightful mix of stoner rock, blues, and straight-up riffage that feels like a slap in the face and a hug at the same time.

From the opening track "Return of the Jackalope," you're thrown headfirst into a whirlwind of fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, and gravelly vocals that sound like they've been soaked in bourbon for days. It's a wild ride from start to finish, with tracks like "Swagger & Booze" and "Gasoline Road" offering up pure, unadulterated rock and roll madness.

But what really sets PLAINRIDE apart is their sense of humour. The band doesn't take themselves too seriously, with lyrics that are equal parts witty and absurd. On "Horsepower," they sing about riding a motorised steed through the desert, while "Cryptic Riffs" is a hilarious ode to the power of a killer guitar riff.

Sure, PLAINRIDE might not be reinventing the wheel with this album, but who cares when the music is this damn good? It's a rollicking good time from start to finish, with enough energy and charm to keep you coming back for more. So crank up the volume, crack open a cold one, and let PLAINRIDE take you on a wild ride through the desert of your mind. Trust us, you won't regret it.

About the artist

Plainride

PLAINRIDE: The Wild West-Rocking Outlaw Band Riding High Hailing from the dusty plains of Germany, PLAINRIDE brings a unique mix of Southern rock, stoner metal, and good ol' fashioned outlaw charm to the music scene. With a sound as big as the Texas sky and lyrics as sharp as a spur, this band is sure to leave you dustier than a tumbleweed in a windstorm. Fronted by the charismatic Sheriff and lead vocalist, Chris "El Rojo" Franklin, PLAINRIDE's line-up also includes gunslingers Max "Max Rebel" Rebel on guitar, Jolle "Jolly Jolly J" Jolly on bass, and drummer Ze "Redhead" Tom. Together, they form a formidable posse that is ready to take on any saloon in town. Their debut album, "Return of the Jackalope," is a raucous ride through the Wild West, filled with tales of whiskey-soaked nights, dusty trails, and broken hearts. Songs like "Gunslinger's Creed" and "Devil at Your Door" showcase the band's mastery of storytelling and their ability to transport listeners to a lawless world where the only law is the sound of a screaming guitar. With a live show that is as rowdy as a barroom brawl, PLAINRIDE has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most exciting bands on the European music scene. Whether you're a fan of classic rock, metal, or just good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll, PLAINRIDE is sure to leave you howling at the moon and reaching for your six-shooter. So saddle up, partner, and get ready to ride with PLAINRIDE.
