Our Take
Our Take
Joji's latest offering, "Piss in the Wind," is a bizarre blend of melancholic melodies and offbeat lyrics that will leave you scratching your head in confusion. The album opens with the haunting track "Drowning," which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its eerie production and cryptic vocals.
Tracks like "Requiem" and "Run" showcase Joji's ability to craft atmospheric soundscapes that transport the listener to a dark, introspective place. However, the album as a whole feels disjointed and lacks a cohesive sonic identity, leaving the listener feeling like they're being tossed around in a stormy sea of musical misfires.
Despite its flaws, "Piss in the Wind" has its moments of brilliance. The standout track "Daylight" is a shimmering ballad that showcases Joji's vocal range and songwriting skills. The soaring chorus and lush production make it a standout on an otherwise forgettable album.
In the end, "Piss in the Wind" is a mixed bag that will either leave you feeling intrigued or utterly baffled. Joji's experimental approach to music has its merits, but ultimately falls short of creating a cohesive listening experience. It's a shame, as there are glimpses of greatness scattered throughout the album. Unfortunately, they're lost in a sea of musical mediocrity.
