Our Take

It's like someone put Prokofiev, Ravel, and a piano in a blender, hit the puree button, and out popped this album. BP/ABBADO's take on these classical concertos is like a rollercoaster ride for your eardrums - fast, furious, and full of unexpected twists and turns.

From the opening bars of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3, it's clear that pianist BP is not here to play it safe. He attacks the keys with a ferocity that's both thrilling and terrifying, like watching a tiger go in for the kill. Conductor ABBADO is no slouch either, keeping the orchestra on their toes with tight, energetic direction.

But it's in Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major that things really start to get weird. The jazz-inflected rhythms and dreamy melodies make for a head-spinning combination, like being trapped in a Salvador Dali painting with a boogie-woogie soundtrack. BP navigates this surreal landscape with skill and finesse, his fingers flying across the keys like a magician weaving a spell.

Overall, this album is a wild and wacky ride through the minds of two musical geniuses, with BP and ABBADO at the helm. If you're looking for a classical experience that's anything but boring, look no further. Strap in, buckle up, and prepare to have your mind blown.
