Our Take
Our Take
Aah, CAM SUGAR, the Italian record label responsible for unleashing some of the most batshit insane music onto the world. And now, they've graced us with "Paura: A Collection," a compilation album that's as bonkers as it sounds.
From the moment you press play, you're thrown headfirst into a cacophony of dissonant sounds, eerie whispers, and spine-tingling samples. It's like being stuck in a haunted house with a broken jukebox playing a mix of Goblin and Aphex Twin on repeat. And yet, somehow, it works.
Tracks like "Fear Factory" and "Nightmare Fuel" are a masterclass in building tension, with layers upon layers of sounds that'll have you checking under your bed before you go to sleep. Meanwhile, "Creepy Crawlies" and "Spooky Scary Skeletons" take a more playful approach, blending sinister synths with catchy hooks that'll have you tapping your foot while simultaneously looking over your shoulder.
Sure, this album won't be for everyone. If you're the type of person who runs screaming from the room at the mere mention of a ghost story, then "Paura" probably isn't for you. But if you're like me and get a kick out of being scared witless, then CAM SUGAR's latest offering is a must-listen.
In conclusion, "Paura: A Collection" is a glorious fever dream of an album that'll have you questioning your own sanity. It's weird, it's wonderful, and it's everything you never knew you needed in your life. Just make sure you keep the nightlight on when you listen.
