Our Take

Ah, ROBIN THICKE. The man who brought us the timeless anthem “Blurred Lines.” Now, he’s back with his new album “Paula” and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride from start to finish.

The album kicks off with the track “You’re My Fantasy,” a sultry number that sets the mood for what’s to come. Thicke’s smooth vocals are on full display here, weaving in and out of the funky beats with ease.

But things take a turn with the next track, “Get Her Back,” where Thicke pleads for his lost love to return. It’s a bit cringeworthy, to be honest, but you can’t help but feel a little sorry for the guy.

As the album unfolds, we’re treated to a mix of soulful ballads and catchy pop tunes, all tied together by Thicke’s signature sound. Standout tracks include “Lock the Door” and “Still Madly Crazy,” both of which showcase Thicke’s vocal range and emotional depth.

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows on “Paula.” Thicke’s attempts to win back his ex-wife – the album’s namesake – can come across as a little desperate at times. And let’s be real, it’s hard to take him seriously when he’s crooning about love and heartbreak while sporting those ridiculous sunglasses.

Overall, “Paula” is a mixed bag. Thicke’s talent is undeniable, but his lyrics can be cringe-inducing at times. If you’re a fan of his previous work, you’ll probably enjoy this album. But if you’re looking for something groundbreaking or innovative, you might want to look elsewhere.
