Our Take
What ho, chaps and chapettes! It's time to don our monocles and have a jolly good listen to the latest offering from the Pernice Brothers - "Overcome By Happiness". This album is like a fine cup of English Breakfast tea - soothing, comforting, but with just the right amount of kick to keep things interesting. From the very first track, "Crestfallen", it's clear that the Pernice Brothers are on top form. The lush melodies and heartfelt lyrics are like a warm hug from your favourite auntie, but with a hint of mischief lurking beneath the surface. It's all very civilized, until you realise that they're actually singing about heartbreak and longing. Well played, old chaps. "Chicken Wire" is a rollicking good time, with a jaunty melody and some cheeky lyrics that are sure to bring a smile to your face. And then there's "Dimmest Star", a bittersweet ballad that tugs at the heartstrings in the most delightful way. It's like a rainy day in the countryside, with a cup of tea and a good book for company. Overall, "Overcome By Happiness" is a charming little album that will leave you feeling, well, overcome by happiness. So pour yourself a nice cuppa, put on your smoking jacket, and settle in for a delightful listening experience. Pip pip, cheerio!
