If you're like me and you've ever wondered what it would be like if DevilDriver started a country band, well wonder no more! Outlaws Til The End. Vol.1 is here to fulfil all your wildest dreams, and then some.
From the get-go, this album hits you like a shot of moonshine on a hot summer day. DevilDriver's signature blend of blistering metal riffs and guttural vocals is perfectly complemented by some good ol' Southern twang. It's like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Slayer had a lovechild, and it's beautiful.
Tracks like "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and "Whiskey River" are reimagined in DevilDriver's own unique style, giving them a new lease of life that will have you stomping your boots and reaching for your cowboy hat. But don't worry, they haven't strayed too far from their roots - the heavy breakdowns and savage growls are still front and centre.
But it's not all fun and games - there are some unexpected twists and turns along the way. Who would have thought that a cover of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" could sound so damn metal? It's a revelation, I tell you.
