Our Take

Ah, The Style Council, the band that brought sophistication and style to the British pop scene in the '80s. Our Favourite Shop is their second studio album, and my oh my, it's a doozy.

Paul Weller and Mick Talbot really hit their stride on this one, blending elements of soul, jazz, and R&B with their signature new wave sound. The result is a musical melting pot that is as eclectic as it is infectious.

From the funky grooves of "Shout to the Top!" to the smooth, soulful vibes of "The Lodgers," this album is a non-stop dance party from start to finish. Weller's distinctive vocals soar over Talbot's jazzy keyboard riffs, creating a sound that is both timeless and of its time.

But it's not all fun and games on Our Favourite Shop. Tracks like "Walls Come Tumbling Down" and "Down in the Seine" explore social and political themes, showing that The Style Council had more on their minds than just making you shake your hips.

So, put on your finest threads, grab a cup of tea, and let The Style Council take you on a musical journey through Our Favourite Shop. It's a shopping spree you won't soon forget.

About the artist

The Style Council

Style Council, the eclectic and trend-setting duo, have been shaking up the music scene with their unique blend of soul, pop, and new wave since the early 1980s. Comprised of the effortlessly cool Paul Weller and the uber-talented Mick Talbot, Style Council have managed to defy genre boundaries and create a sound all their own. With Paul Weller's soulful vocals and Mick Talbot's impressive keyboard skills, Style Council have produced hit after hit, from the iconic "My Ever Changing Moods" to the infectious "Shout to the Top!" Their music is a perfect blend of catchy hooks, smooth grooves, and thought-provoking lyrics, making them a force to be reckoned with in the music world. But what really sets Style Council apart from the rest is their unparalleled sense of style. With their sharp suits, slick haircuts, and retro-chic aesthetic, they have become fashion icons in their own right. It's no wonder they were at the forefront of the mod revival movement in the 1980s. Style Council's influence can still be felt today, with artists across genres citing them as a major inspiration. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual listener, one thing's for sure - Style Council's music will have you bopping along in no time. So why not give them a spin and see what all the fuss is about? You won't be disappointed.
