Black Grape - Orange Head Rating: 8.5/10 When Shaun Ryder and Bez from Happy Mondays decided to join forces and create Black Grape, many were left scratching their heads in confusion. But oh boy, are we glad they did! Orange Head is the perfect follow-up to their debut album, It's Great When You're Straight... Yeah, and proves that these Mancunian lads still know how to party like it's 1995. From the moment you press play, you're hit with a wave of funky basslines, catchy synths, and Ryder's signature drawl that could charm the pants off a nun. Tracks like "Pop Voodoo" and "Heatwave" will have you dancing around your living room with a drink in hand, while slower jams like "Money Burns" and "Shake Well Before Use" showcase a softer, more introspective side to the band. But what really sets Orange Head apart is its fearless exploration of social and political issues. Ryder doesn't hold back when tackling topics like government corruption and mental health, making sure that the party vibes never overshadow the important messages at the core of the album. So, if you're looking for an album that will make you dance, think, and laugh all at once, Black Grape's Orange Head is the perfect choice.
