Our Take
Warzone's latest album "Open Your Eyes" is a rollercoaster of emotions, musical styles, and questionable fashion choices. This New York hardcore band has been around the block a few times, and it definitely shows in their latest offering. The album kicks off with the title track, and let me tell you, it's a doozy. The raw energy and angst of the vocals combined with the aggressive guitar riffs make you want to jump into a mosh pit and punch someone in the face (metaphorically, of course). As you delve deeper into the album, you start to notice the eclectic mix of influences that Warzone has drawn from. From punk to metal to reggae, they've managed to blend it all together in a way that shouldn't work, but somehow does. It's like a musical Frankenstein's monster, but in a good way. But possibly the most surprising aspect of "Open Your Eyes" is the lyrical content. Warzone tackles some heavy topics, including social injustice, personal struggles, and the state of the world today. It's a far cry from the typical "drink beer, smash stuff" lyrics you might expect from a hardcore band. Overall, "Open Your Eyes" is a wild ride that will leave you questioning your own existence and wondering why you didn't start a hardcore band in the '80s. Warzone may be older and wiser, but they've still got plenty of fire left in their bellies. Or maybe that's just heartburn from all the pizza they've been eating.
