Our Take
Our Take
Sikth, the band that never ceases to surprise, is back with their latest release, "Opacities." This EP is a whirlwind of technical wizardry and genre-bending madness that only these British prog-metal pioneers could pull off.
From the moment the opening track, "Behind the Doors," kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride. The dual vocals of Mikee Goodman and Joe Rosser are as demented and chaotic as ever, but somehow manage to weave in and out of each other with expert precision.
The musicianship on display here is nothing short of jaw-dropping. The guitar work of Dan Weller and Graham Pinney is frenetic and mind-bending, while the rhythm section of James Leach and Dan Foord provide a solid backbone for the insanity unfolding on top.
Tracks like "Philistine Philosophies" and "Tokyo Lights" showcase the band at the height of their powers, blending complex time signatures, aggressive riffs, and haunting melodies with effortless ease.
"Opacities" is not for the faint of heart. It's a challenging listen that demands your full attention and rewards you with a sonic experience like no other. Sikth have once again proven why they are legends in the world of progressive metal, and this EP cements their status as one of the most innovative and fearless bands in the game.
