Our Take

Ah, Strike Under, the punk rock outfit that's been kicking around since before you were even a glint in your parents' eyes. Their latest double A-side release, "One Eye / Damaged Goods," is a raucous romp through the seedy underbelly of the Chicago music scene.

"One Eye" kicks things off with a blistering riff that could wake the dead. The snarling vocals cut through the noise like a knife through butter, delivering a message of defiance and rebellion that will have you throwing your fists in the air in no time. The relentless energy of this track is infectious, leaving you craving more as soon as it's over.

On the flipside, "Damaged Goods" takes things down a notch, but only just. The brooding bassline sets the stage for a tale of heartbreak and betrayal, delivered with a sneer that would make Johnny Rotten proud. The gritty production adds an extra layer of depth to the track, drawing you in and refusing to let go.

In conclusion, Strike Under have once again proven why they're legends in the punk rock world. "One Eye / Damaged Goods" is a masterclass in raw, unapologetic music that demands to be heard. So crank up the volume, grab a beer, and prepare to be blown away.

About the artist

Strike Under

Oh, STRIKE UNDER, where do we begin with this raucous punk rock outfit hailing from the gritty streets of Chicago? Formed in the late 1970s, Strike Under burst onto the scene with their high-energy performances and rebellious attitude, quickly becoming darlings of the underground punk scene. Led by the charismatic frontman Steve Bjorklund, Strike Under's music is a potent blend of raw aggression, catchy hooks, and politically charged lyrics that hit you right in the gut. Bjorklund's snarling vocals and frenetic guitar playing are perfectly complemented by the tight rhythms of bassist Pierre Kezdy and drummer Bob Furem. Their 1981 EP, "Immediate Action," is a punk masterpiece, with songs like "Sunday Night Disorientation" and "Elephant's Graveyard" showcasing the band's fierce musicianship and unapologetic attitude. Strike Under's music is a call to arms for anyone who has ever felt lost or angry in a world that doesn't always make sense. With influences ranging from The Clash to Black Flag, Strike Under have carved out their own unique sound that is both familiar and exciting. Their live shows are a sight to behold, with sweat-soaked crowds moshing and screaming along to every word. Sadly, Strike Under disbanded in 1982, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire countless punk bands to this day. But their music lives on, a testament to the power of raw, unfiltered rock and roll. Long live Strike Under, the unsung heroes of the Chicago punk scene.
