Our Take

If Dexys were a bird, they would be a majestic eagle soaring high above the rest of the flock. "One Day I'm Going to Soar" is their triumphant return to the music scene, proving once again that Kevin Rowland and his band of merry men are a force to be reckoned with.

From the opening notes of "Now," it's clear that Dexys mean business. Rowland's soulful vocals are as powerful as ever, soaring over the mix like a bird on the wind. The band behind him is in top form, with tight rhythm and horn sections propelling the songs forward with a sense of urgency.

Tracks like "She Got a Wiggle" and "It's O.K. John Joe" showcase Dexys' unique blend of soul, punk, and pop influences, creating a sound that is both timeless and completely fresh. Rowland's lyrics are as sharp and witty as ever, weaving tales of love, loss, and redemption with a keen eye for detail.
