Our Take
Ah, Leaf Hound, the band that's been kicking around the rock scene since way back in the swinging '60s. Their latest album "Once Bitten" is a ferocious whirlwind of riffs, blazing solos, and howling vocals that will have you headbanging like it's 1970 all over again. From the moment the needle drops on the opening track, "Stoned Lizard," you know you're in for a wild ride. The band's signature blend of bluesy rock and psychedelic grooves is on full display here, with guitar wizardry that would make Jimmy Page blush. Frontman Pete French's vocals are as powerful as ever, soaring over the cacophony of sound like a banshee on a mission. And the rhythm section of Keith George and Jimmy Rowland is tighter than a pair of skinny jeans on Mick Jagger. Standout tracks include the thunderous "Freelance Fiend" and the epic closer "Break Me," which clocks in at nearly 10 minutes of pure rock 'n' roll bliss.
