Our Take

ELVIS PRESLEY On Stage - A Hound Dog's Night Out

The King has returned...kind of. In this live album, Elvis Presley dazzles and stumbles through a set of hits and misses. Opening with the iconic "Blue Suede Shoes," Presley's charm and charisma still shine through, despite a few missed notes and questionable stage banter.

Tracks like "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" and "Love Me Tender" remind us of Presley's undeniable vocal talent, while covers of classics like "Mystery Train" and "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" showcase his rock 'n' roll roots.

However, it's not all hits on this album. Questionable song choices like "I Got a Woman" and "Tutti Frutti" leave us scratching our heads and wondering if maybe The King should have left those in the past.

The real charm of this album lies in the between-song banter and interactions with the audience. Elvis's witty comebacks and playful teasing add a layer of intimacy that is often missing from live recordings.

Overall, ELVIS PRESLEY On Stage is a mixed bag of hits, misses, and everything in between. If you're a die-hard Elvis fan or just looking for a fun listen, this album is definitely worth a spin. Just be prepared for a wild ride through the ups and downs of The King's live performances. All hail the King...well, most of the time.

About the artist

Elvis Presley

The King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley, needs no introduction. With his soulful vocals, electric stage presence, and iconic hip-shaking moves, Elvis revolutionised the music industry in the 1950s and left a lasting impact that still resonates to this day. From his early hits like "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Jailhouse Rock" to his later hits like "Suspicious Minds" and "Burning Love," Elvis's discography is a masterclass in blending rock, country, and gospel influences into a sound that was uniquely his own. But Elvis was more than just a musician; he was a cultural phenomenon. With his tousled hair, leather jumpsuits, and signature sideburns, Elvis became a fashion icon and a symbol of rebellion for a generation of teenagers. He starred in a string of successful films, including "Blue Hawaii" and "Viva Las Vegas," and his appearances on television were must-see events that drew millions of viewers. Despite his untimely death in 1977, Elvis's legacy lives on. His music continues to inspire artists across genres, and his impact on popular culture is still felt today. So put on your blue suede shoes, grab a peanut butter and banana sandwich, and join us as we take a deep dive into the wild, wonderful world of the one and only Elvis Presley. Thank you very much.
