Various Artists - Oh. What A Lovely War

Oh dear, what a mixed bag we have here with this compilation album. Much like a box of chocolates left out in the sun, some tracks are delightful and sweet, while others leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

The album opens with a charming rendition of "Pack Up Your Troubles" that will have you tapping your feet and feeling nostalgic for simpler times. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse with a jarring cover of "It's a Long Way to Tipperary" that will have you questioning why you ever agreed to listen to this album in the first place.

Some highlights include a haunting version of "Keep the Home Fires Burning" that will send shivers down your spine, and a whimsical take on "Roses of Picardy" that will have you daydreaming of romantic walks in the countryside. But these moments of brilliance are few and far between, as the album is bogged down by lacklustre performances and questionable song choices.
